About the Position: Women’s Studio Workshop seeks to hire an Education Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adept at communicating both internally with staff and externally with WSW’s constituents. This individual will be fully involved in the programmatic aspects of WSW’s Summer Art Institute and Art-in-Education programs and will intersect with marketing, studio, and leadership staff. This is an in-person position, taking place at the WSW campus in Kingston, NY. Hourly requirements vary seasonally, at 24 hrs/week September to May, and 40 hrs/week June to August. Some weekend and evening work will be required. The compensation rate is $25/hour, and the start date is January 11th, 2027.
The primary objective of this position is to support the smooth functioning of two key WSW programs: Summer Art Institute (SAI) and Art-in-Education (AIE). Responsibilities include:
Art-in-Education:
- Coordinate with the Kingston City School District art teachers and WSW staff to implement the AIE schedule in February and October
- Communicate with AIE instructors around lesson plans, workshop schedules, travel arrangements, and orientation to WSW
- Oversee installation of 2 AIE exhibitions a year, coordinating with off-site galleries as needed
- Collect data and materials for program-related grant reports and applications
Summer Art Institute:
- Communicate with SAI instructors around lesson plans, workshop schedules, travel arrangements, and orientation to WSW and the local area
- Work with WSW staff to implement the SAI schedule in July and August
- Support the SAI Chef in the successful implementation of mid-day meals and Monday night dinners, including service and clean up
- Perform outstanding customer service to greet and orient students throughout the week, including leading Monday morning orientation and introducing teaching artists at weekly Slide Night presentations
General / Cross-Program:
- Track information with clarity, precision, and transparency, adapting to WSW’s established systems
- Liaise between WSW studio staff and instructors to ensure that proper materials, tools, and equipment are outlined for workshops
- Pick up instructors at airports or bus stations as needed
- Manage day-to-day details of the SAI and AIE programs while they are in session
Requirements:
- Adept at operating at high efficiency in a deadline-continuous environment
- Proactive in addressing any and all issues related to job responsibilities
- Excellent cultural competency and a demonstrated interest in the mission, vision, and values of Women’s Studio Workshop
- Familiarity with current practices in contemporary art education, and a commitment to keeping WSW’s educational programs responsive to the field
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google suites
- A working knowledge of WSW’s artistic disciplines
- A valid driver’s license
