Background: Women’s Studio Workshop (WSW), founded in 1974 in Rosendale, NY, envisions a society in which women’s visual art is integral to the cultural mainstream and recorded in history. It operates an artists’ workspace that encourages the voice and vision of women and trans, intersex, nonbinary, and genderfluid artists; provides professional opportunities for artists at various stages of their careers; and promotes programs designed to stimulate public involvement, awareness, and support for the visual arts.
One of these programs is the Summer Art Institute (SAI), which takes place annually in July and August, and is composed of approximately 20 week-long workshops in printmaking, papermaking, and book arts. Participants come from around the country (and occasionally the globe!) and include a wide-range of practicing artists at all levels of expertise and experience. We aim to bring teaching artists who are leaders in their field and who are pushing the boundaries of what it means to make work in their mediums.
About the Position: WSW seeks to contract a full-time, seasonal Summer Art Institute Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adept at communicating both internally with staff and externally with WSW’s constituents. This individual will be fully involved in the programmatic aspects of WSW’s Summer Art Institute and will also intersect with operations and other organizational staff. The schedule is primarily Sunday through Thursday, 9am to 5pm, but events and classes will sometimes require weekend and evening work during the 3-month period of June, July and August. There is opportunity for growth within the organization for the right candidate.

- Perform outstanding customer service to help greet and orient students throughout the week, including leading Monday morning orientation and introducing teaching artists at our weekly Slide Night presentations
As with all small teams, this position requires responsiveness to other work as it arises. We expect every WSW staff member to be a team player and to help the organization in achieving its programmatic, strategic, and financial goals.
